Survivorship is a major part of Relay for Life, an opportunity to celebrate the courage of cancer survivors and to give hope to those
still battling the disease. Survivors are honored guests at the Relay and a full program of activities is available throughout the event.
All cancer survivors, young and old, are invited to take part in the inspirational Survivor Victory lap, and enjoy a day long program of
activities just for survivors.

To participate as a Survivor or get more information regarding Survivor activities at the Relay for Life, please contact

In 2005, 130 people registered as cancer survivors and provided a truly inspirational moment as they walked round the track
together in the Survivor Victory Lap. One of those was  Morgan Ras, a 13 year old survivor of pancreatic cancer from Northford,
whose story was featured in the
New Haven Register and The Sound in connection with the 2005 Relay. Click here to read about
his remarkable story of cancer survival and learn why he and his family are supporting the Relay For Life.

Each of the past three NB Relays has brought over 100 cancer survivors of all ages and backgrounds
together. Survivors enjoy their own themed activities and specially decorated and survivor tent.
Previous themes have been:  "Heaven Can Wait" (movies), "Las Vegas Resort and Curesino" (Curing
Cancer around the World) and "Hope Castle" (Times from the Past).  The survivors as a group provide
a truly inspirational moment as they walk round the track together in the Survivor Victory Lap.

Our Relay is Turning Five....And We Will Survive !

A CELEBRATION OF LIFE!  Join us this year as the North Branford Relay for Life celebrates its 5 year anniversary!

We invite all cancer survivors to attend the opening ceremonies of North Branford’s Relay For Life. We encourage you to enjoy the day, make new
friends, and celebrate! Relay For Life is an overnight team event that increases awareness of cancer in the community and raises much needed
funds to fight the disease. At Relay For Life, teams of friends, neighbors, families, and coworkers commit to keeping at least one member walking
the track at all times—because cancer never sleeps. Please join other survivors in the inspirational Survivors Lap that officially begins our annual
Relay For Life. For many, the experience of gathering together with other survivors is powerful and moving. Your family and friends are invited to join
you during this celebration as well.

This year, Branford resident and singer/songwriter
Debra Alt, is composing a
song for the survivors and then performing it at the Survivor Luncheon following
the Survivor Victory Lap.  For more information about Debra, please visit her
website at
www.debrasong.com.

I look forward to seeing you all at the Relay. It promises to be an unforgettable day where we will celebrate life, hope, and triumph over cancer!

With Warm Regards,
Monica Baer
