The success of the Relay depends upon people forming and registering teams. Teams typically have 8-15 members, one of whom
will be the designated team captain, acting as the contact person for their team.
Team captains should be able to attend a few Relay meetings in the weeks leading up to the event, or have someone else from
their team attend. The purpose of these meetings will be for teams to register, to turn in any fundraising monies, receive Relay
updates and event T-shirts. Team captains are responsible for completing the registration forms for their team, collecting the $10
registration fee from each team member, and registering the team.
Team captain meetings begin in February, and the full schedule and agendas will be posted shortly. It is important that someone
from your team attend the meeting to collect the registration materials and Team Captain information pack.

If you would like to register a team, or if you are a individual who would like to be matched with a team, please come to one of
these meetings!
In the Team Captain's packet there are many more fundraising tips, including the "Relay For Life Encyclopedia for Fundraising
Tips" which contains hundreds of ideas to help you meet your fundraising goals. To request a Team Captain's packet please

Tell them about the Relay, how you are donating your time and effort to help. The list of people you can ask is almost endless....

Team fundraisers can be a very effective way of gathering donations. Be as creative as you want, and remember to promote the Relay For Life and American Cancer Society's mission during your efforts. Some ideas that could be used are...
- Bake sale - Car wash - Potluck party - Auction (silent or live) - Casual for cancer (allow your company to dress casual for a $5 donation) - Sports tournaments - Matching gifts (if you have a corporate team, will your employers match contributions?).
